BBB Co-chair

Vice President of Public Relations and Communications, BBB Serving North Central Texas

Phylissia Landix Clark is currently Vice President of Public Relations and Communications for Better Business Bureau Serving North Central Texas. Prior to joining the communications team, she served as Director of Advertising Review for BBB’s Dallas office.

After graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in English from Spelman College, Phylissia began her career as a Project Coordinator in the marketing department of BeautiControl Cosmetics, Inc., a direct selling company and wholly-owned subsidiary of Tupperware Corporation, based in Carrollton, Texas. At BeautiControl, Phylissia conducted proprietary territory development research on the purchasing trends of the Hispanic market.

Phylissia went on to pursue her juris doctorate (J.D.) at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law (Boalt Hall). After graduating from Berkeley in 2006, Phylissia worked for Lozano Smith LLC, a California Education Law Firm that represents California school districts and a variety of public agencies.

In 2008, Phylissia joined BBB’s Ad Review Team, researching claims of false, deceptive, misleading, or confusing advertising, and requesting advertising claim substantiation as needed. In 2014, as a result of BBB Serving North Central Texas’s emphasis on educating advertisers about truth and accuracy in advertising, Phylissia’s team achieved 90% voluntary compliance with BBB advertising standards among contacted businesses. That same year, she hosted and presented at BBB’s inaugural Ad Review Conference.

Since 2015, in her role as public spokesperson and media contact, Phylissia has done more than 35 on-camera interviews for BBB-related news stories and helped to educate consumers about scams and substandard business practices.

Finally, Phylissia has served on the Board of American Advertising Federation – Dallas, the organization that founded BBB Dallas in 1920, for over two years. She began as BBB Advertising Advisory Board Chair, and has most recently worked with the Public Service Chair to strengthen and institutionalize the relationship between AAF and BBB. Because of BBB’s impartiality, Phylissia has also served as proctor and official vote compiler for AAF Dallas’s annual Addys Award Competitions in Dallas.
