2017 Mark Johnson AAF Dallas Member of the Year finalists and award winner

Frank Kopec

Retired

Although Frank is “retired” for the advertising business he is still active with AAF. In addition to being the AAF Dallas Government Relations Chair, he is also the 10th District Texas Government Relations Liaison and on the AAF National Government Relations Board. This year AAF Dallas won first place at the district and national level for clubs over 500 members for Club Achievement in Government Relations.

His retirement allows his to be active in the Texas MG Car club and enjoy his 5 kids and 15 grandkids in addition to his work with AAF.

During Frank’s tenure on the AAF Dallas Board that started in 1998 he was;

The chair or co-chair for sponsorships for the 7 AdRoasts between 2000 and 2007 that raised over $300,000 for the DREAM Fund and $75,000 for the AAF Dallas Foundation.

In 2004 he was local co-chair of the AAF National Conference that was held in Dallas.

For the 2004-2005 year Frank was awarded the first Mark Johnson Memorial AAF Dallas.

From 2009-2013 Frank was AAF Dallas Executive Director

In 2009 was the the chair of the AAF’s 10th District Annual Conference held in Dallas.

In 2011 AAF Dallas was nominated as AAF’s National Large Club (500+) of the Year. Frank wrote many of the Club Achievement entries for that year.

In 2012 Frank was awarded AAF’s 10th District Member of the Year in 2013 AAF’s 10th District honored Frank with the Sterling Service Award for this services including raising $250,000 for the Tenth District.

In 2016 the Rochester NY Advertising Federation saluted Frank with it’s Silver Medal Award for
founding the club in 1991, 25 years earlier.

Phylissia Landix Clark, J.D.

Vice President of Public Relations and
Communications, BBB Serving North Central Texas

Phylissia Landix Clark is currently Vice President of Public Relations and Communications for Better Business Bureau Serving North Central Texas. Prior to joining the communications team, she served as Director of Advertising Review for BBB’s Dallas office.

After graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in English from Spelman College, Phylissia went on to pursue her juris doctorate (J.D.) at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law (Boalt Hall).

In 2008, Phylissia joined BBB as an advertising investigator, researching claims of false, deceptive, misleading, or confusing advertising, and requesting advertising claim substantiation as needed. In 2014, as a result of BBB Serving North Central Texas’s emphasis on educating advertisers about truth and accuracy in advertising, Phylissia’s team achieved 90% voluntary compliance with BBB advertising standards among contacted businesses.

Since 2015, in her role as public spokesperson, Phylissia has done more than 30 on-camera interviews for BBB-related news stories and helped to educate consumers about scams and substandard business practices.

 

 

Jorge E. Perez

Marketing Account Manager at Associa

Jorge E. Perez has been a part of AAF since 2009. He currently serves as the Government Relations Chair for Ad2Dallas. His involvement started during his time at Ball State University in the AAF Student Chapter, there he spent hours working on mock campaigns gaining real life experience, and sharpening his skills in marketing and advertising.

After graduating from Ball State in 2012, he joined the prestigious Leadership DevelopmentProgram with RR Donnelley where he learned how to be adaptable in any leadership position assigned. By establishing his desire to make a difference in every company, he was chosen to travel to Washington, DC during the 2014 Midterm Elections to manage projects and political campaigns for 70% of the candidates in the U.S. During that time, he was responsible for ensuring that every campaign had a meaningful message for its constituencies as well as sway voters.

Jorge was born and raised in Guatemala before coming to the United States at the age of 15. As a first generation immigrant, he takes great pride in being the first in his family to graduate from a four-year university and earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Admin and Marketing. He attributes his accomplishments to his family and mentors who have inspired him to excel in the business field.

His new role as a marketing manager for the number #1 property management and lifestyle services company, Associa, allows him to continue to build his marketing and strategic sales experience. He hopes to increase the market share in order to extend the success pattern previously seen from his company. As he works with Associa, he plans to implement international marketing efforts as the company ventures its reach to Mexico, Canada and Dubai.
